All alcohol is made by a process of fermentation, but spirits have two key differences.
Firstly, they’re distilled – a process which separates out the water, and secondly, they have a higher alcohol content as a result of this distillation process. Liqueurs – while still part of the spirits family - have sugars and flavourings added to them.
